you should say fluently.
cause yes. I can speak other languages.
not fluently though. I can say like, 3 numbers and "do you speak German?" in German.
I can count up to 39 in Spanish and know a few words.

That's what I'm thinking. I think if I go somewhere I could understand 50% of the Spanish, but I can't actually SPEAK IT. I just can't get myself to memorize it or anything. I just have to hear it. In your case though you can understand it clearly..lol

it takes alot of work, but if you keep practicing it will get slowly get easier. think of it this way, how long does it take babies to begin to learn to speak? at least the first year and that's just a few words here and there. they say that the younger you learn languages the easier it is to be able to learn to speak them which is why they start spanish and stuff in kindergarten, or atleast they do where i live. but keep at it, it will all start to click soon :)
and in my case, i've heard ppl talking italian most of my life, my grandfather was born in italy and he would talk to me in italian alot and then i took it in school for a few years.

We have Spanish starting in kindergarten too. It's just like once I learn it all like slips out of my brain and boom it's gone and I forget. I just can't remember and then I feel embarassed doing the accent. I know that's kind of stupid. >_< I bought all these Spanish books to learn though and my mom can speak it fluently.
