I am a major grammar/spelling critique.
I'm going to post more grammar guides every few days.
I have mainly seen this, yes, I know saying 'u' is faster then saying 'you', but have you ever thought that your hand is ahead of your brain? Well, maybe at school/work, you will start writing really fast, you may write 'u' instead of 'you', this would be considered a habit, if you would like to break your habit, try remembering to type 'you'.
Another grammar habit I have seen is Always Typing Like This, I use to type like that but broke that habit, I don't know if teacher's accept that at school, but it isn't proper, try to type on the forum at least everyday and try to "Type like this."
I have also seen this, which one looks better? "i have a dog on Vfk" or "I have a dog on VFK.", of course the second one, try typing like that and you'll be using proper grammar!
Let's not forget apostrophes...
yours, not your's
cats, not cat's (unless you're talking about something that belongs to the cat. Like, the cat's bowl.
teachers (plural) teacher's (teacher's desk)
Don't forget to add those commas!
Commas are used for pausing, listing things (like this).
Lets see, "I have a cat a bird a dog and a cow.", or "I have a cat, a bird, a dog, and a cow." of course, the second one looks better, Super Comma saves the day!
Following these rules will make a super grammar hero!
Thanks for tuning in, and check for more grammar habits soon! :)

Here's a big woot for proper grammar and spelling! :)
Shifting, you are correct. "Typing Like This" is not acceptable in written form or typed on the computer. It is also just really annoying. I do not accept it from my students. I also do not accept any text message words in their written work. I am a teacher and I have to deal with spelling and grammar issues every day. It is better to not start these bad habits in the first place. You do not want them to transfer over to your school or professional work.
Thanks for starting this thread, Comic! :D

Same here, especially with the "You're" and "Your."

If you are talking about more than one object being possesive, it would not be....
The skunk's tail...
It would be,
The skunks' tail

FOLLOW THOSE TIPS!
Don't be like me. =[ When I started VMK, I started using text language in my chat. It was over Christmas break. And then, all of a sudden, when we got back to school in January, I started using phrases such as "bc" and didn't capitalize my I's! It was scary....

I like the idea!
Maybe a report on commas? (comma splices, sentence fragments, when to use a period or semicolon instead, etc.)
Oh, and another thing that bothers me: When people use it's (which is used ONLY for "it is") instead of its (which is used to show possession).
@ Tomorrow - The skunks share a tail? :) I love that sentence!

What annoys me is when people use are where our should be used.
Are = In a question/to ask (Are you going on VFK?)
Our = To own/possesion (This is our VFK room!)

Conjunction function, was always one of my favorite School House Rock songs. I have School House Rock on DVD, If your wondering why, the answer is quite simple -- School House Rock is AWESOME!

Thanks for typing this. My mom is a real fanatic when it comes to grammar and so am I. Habit I guess. Grammar is very important and when you go out into the world, people notice how you speak. Especially when you are looking for a job. My mom and dad have drummed this into my head since I was very little. I'm glad they did because I really listen to what people say now and sometimes I think, "Oh my gosh, that sounds awful." I'm not trying to be mean, it's just that you should really watch what you say and how you say it. You will be glad you did the older you get. Angel Fancy

Hehe, thanks for posting! My mom used to be an high school english teacher before I was born so I've learned how to type well. I do have to say though that I don't always get everything right and I have a lot of spelling mistakes but I think I do pretty well for my age. I also sometimes joke around and do inproper grammer to try and be funny, but I do my best to type well. =D Here is my tip...
Commas are your friends! They are placed when there is a 'pause' in a sentence. Such as.."My new dog has white fur, brown ears, a fuzzy tale, and a black nose." Doesn't that sound better then "My new dog has white fur brown ears a fuzzy tale and a black nose."?
Also, it's "I hurt myself very badly.." not "I hurt myself real bad.." It's badly, not bad. =/ So like "I want a Wii very badly!" not "I want a Wii so bad!" That's something you should remember. =D
P.S.School House Rock is the bomb! ( LOL ) I have it on DVD too. =D

I agree that we do need to be reminded on use of proper typing but the high tech society has turned us all into short cut wizards because of lack of space on most of the small gadgets we all carry and type on. Not only does proper spelling and punctuation look neater but it also conveys our thoughts completely, allowing for no second guessing. I hope you continue to educate us here. :) I know I could use all the help you have to offer.
