Ok guys, it has been confirmed that Halo 4 will never happen but Bungie said that the Halo 3 campaign will be expanded because of the Legendary ending where Chief and Cortana and the ship hit a nearby planet and no one knew what happened to them. Good Luck Bungie!! Also, Bungie and Microsoft Game Studios are back together!!! WOOT!!! :D It could be released this winter.

It will be. It is called Halo 3 RECON. In this Halo edition it takes place between the second and third halo you are playing as a much weaker character that looks like the chief. It takes place after the huge explosion in Halo 2. It should be out Fall 2009.

Well, your right my friend. Halo 3 Recon is coming out Fall 2009. I read Game Informer on it and I found out there no shields on it and your a human, not a spartan. I would be giving out more details soon. But they are now calling H3R Halo 3: ODST>

yes its true I was looking forward to Halo 4 , but I'm excited for Halo 3 Recon! Around Christmas the mythic map pack is coming out. I'm getting my microsoft points now!

I don't get why they now make you pay for Microsoft points now these days. It's kinda unfair and they should just make you pay for the Xbox Live Service. It's called Halo 3: ODST, according to Halopedia, which is the official source for any new Halo stuff, and confirmed by Bungie.
