New Policy on External Links... and videos!!

After some more deliberation in the staff hot tub, we have decided to allow external links and videos to be posted on the forums.

w-w-wait! Does this mean we can post whatever we want? Keep reading!

We all want to feel we can trust you guys. We feel you guys need respect, and require respect in return.

What this means:

YOU are responsible for prescreening said link or video. It is up to you to determine if there's anything that could even be remotely inappropriate for younger members. If you wouldn't want your 9 year old sibling to see it, then you probably shouldn't post it.
WE (VFKF Staff) will still moderate threads as we normally do. However! If we come across a link or video you have already prescreened and it turns out to be something that shouldn't have been shared in the first place, there will be consequences, such as infractions or bans depending on the situation.
It also needs to be said that this is all going to be on a trial basis. If we have too many problems with this, links will go back to being not allowed.

Some tips for posting links:

1. Don't post something just because you're bored, or just to post because you saw something cool.
2. Post things that have relevance to a topic, or is informative.
3. Post VFK, VMK related things. (VMK related things in the VMK Forum, obviously)
4. Don't post things that could reveal information about yourself. This means no My Space, Face Book, etc. This also means no videos of your cheerleading team, or your football team or even your your ping pong team. It's just not safe.
5. If ever in doubt, pm a staff member. We'll let you know if it's cool or not.

*** HOW TO POST A YOU TUBE VIDEO ***

This is the ONLY way You Tube videos will be allowed to be posted!

Use this nifty embed tool:

All you have to do is make sure you are in the advanced posting window and you will see this: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=82817&stc=1&d=1214207964 All you have to do is click that picture and then when the code appears all you have to do is enter the code of the video into the middle of that with no space. The underlined and purple part here is the code part: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qi1WYYj76yo
You only need this part!

We present the winner of the VFKForums Video Contest using the mod!

Punkpat, on every youtube video you see a 9-digit code. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qi1WYYj76yo The code is the purple on the link.
You will insert that code in between the [ YOUTUBE] Insert Code Here . That will embed your video on a post.

Now i do believe, If the video is for your userpage, then you can still use the embed link provided by youtube.
