Chapter One
It was pure darkness. I saw a faint light in the corner of my eye. I focused on it and slowly made out the outline of it and realized I was staring at my digital clock. I yawned and rolled over. That was a bad move as I quickly landed on the wooden floor of my room with a thud. I didn't take the time to check back at the clock for the time. I pulled myself to my feet, and fell back into bed. I felt so tired. I wanted to fall back asleep.
I saw the light, peaking through the blinds of my window. The clock read eight. I had slept in. What day was it today? The thoughts slowly formed together and I realized it was monday. I was late for school! My parents leave for work at five in the morning and expect me to get ready and make the seven fourty five bus. I would have to get ready as fast as I could and walk to school. I felt like rolling over but some faint thought stopped me. I sat up straight and hopped out of bed.
After I had showered, got dressed, done my hair, ate breakfast and brushed my teeth, I grabbed my backpack and headed out the door. I was set for my long trip to school. I go to Rex View Middle School and I would probably be late for my first hour. I ran out of the garage and through my backyard. If I cut through the familys backyard behind me I could get to school earlier. I ran halfway through the lawn before I noticed something was different. The grass looked gloomy and dead. The red and white upbeat house that layed on the lot was now gray with a faint red. It had ivy covering it and broken windows where red velvet curtain windows used to be.
